Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Each age gets the Lincoln it deserves. So the early 21st century clearly deserves a vampire-killing, action-hero Abe. The trailer for the upcoming Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter was released today.

Note that in one of the panning shots of the trailer, the Washington Monument is visible -- the completed monument that we know today. It might be too much to ask a fantasy like Vampire Hunter to get such niggling details right, but in Lincoln's day the monument wasn't finished. It looked like this.

I was kinda looking forward to this until I found it was from the director of "Wanted", truly one of the worst films I have ever seen. My interest in seeing it plummeted a hundred fold.

There's a very interesting movie circa 1942 called "Ten Gentlemen from West Point" about the finding of West Point. Opening scenes show members of Congress discussing funding the military academy while the construction of the Capitol dome is occurring above them. A very nice matte painting if memory serves.
