Breckinr...Breckenridge, Texas was named for John C. Breckinridge, though they respelled the name for some reason. (He's not alone: Collin County, Texas was named for Colin McKinney.) There was, I have discovered, another settlement in Texas named after John C. Breckinridge where his name was spelled correctly. It disappeared in the 1870's after the railroad came through the area and set up another town close by: everybody, including the post office, picked up and moved over to the railroad.
